Este é um exercício especial para você que quer treinar seu vocabulário e ter ainda mais repertório para se comunicar em inglês.

Unscramble the words nada mais é do que desembaralhar as palavras. No exercício abaixo, selecionei apenas verbos, isso facilita, e muito, o processo de assimilação das palavras, já que seu cérebro conseguirá guardar as palavras a partir de um bloco específico, ou seja, palavras que exprimem ações (que no caso é uma das funções próprias do verbo em qualquer língua).

As diferenças entre very e many

As expressões very e many muitas vezes podem nos trazer dúvidas no momento de seu uso, já que as duas podem ser traduzidas como "muito", porém, existem diferenças bastante marcantes entre elas. Vamos conhecê-las?

1- Very: O advérbio very é sempre usado para dar intensidade a um verbo ou adjetivo, ou seja, seu objetivo é enfatizar a ação ou a sensação expressa na frase. Veja os exemplos:

A- She is very effortful (Ela é muito esforçada)

 Perceba como o very intensifica o adjetivo esforçada, além disso, o advérbio very demonstra o modo como ela é (como ela é? muito esforçada). Note que nesse caso jamais poderíamos conceber o very traduzido no plural.

2- Many: Já o many é usado para demonstrar quantidade e nesse caso admite tranquilamente o plural no momento da tradução. Olhe só o exemplo:

A- They have many cars. (Eles têm muitos carros)

Foi possível notar que aqui estamos ressaltando a quantidade e não intensificando uma ação? 

B- There are many shops here. (há muitas lojas aqui)

Novamente, para que serve o many nessa frase? Para intensificar a ação de "haver" ou para ressaltar a quantidade de lojas? Fica bastante fácil de perceber que o caso aqui gira em torno da quantidade e não da intensificação.

Para ficar mais fácil

Se você quer um modo mais simples para acertar o uso, é só imaginar a frase no plural em português, se o muito admitir o plural, em inglês será sempre "many", se não admitir, será sempre "very". Simples assim!

Curiosidades em inglês

Dias atrás, vi num texto bastante informal a expressão "I dunno" e fiquei pensando: será que o significado dela é assim tão claro para todos?

Essa é uma expressão que, como tantas outras em inglês, é usada informalmente, em conversas ou textos não literários que admitem o uso de contrações e das famosas gírias.

E para os curiosos, aí vai: "I dunno" significa "Eu não sei", é uma outra versão da clássica frase em inglês "I don't know". A abreviação para "dunno" é feita para facilitar o som e agilizar a pronúncia, algo comum em inglês.

Lembre-se que "I dunno" faz referência apenas ao presente, ok? Para o passado, a forma "knew" é mantida normalmente.
